It’s like stepping back in time” commented Fernie Corbel as he thought back to his first visit to Stewart BC. “This little town looks like time stopped years ago.”
God has led our missionary pastor family Fernie & Madeline Corbel, to this northern community of 700 people.
Dreams of gold brought the first pioneers to Stewart long ago. Set against towering peaks with hundreds of scenic waterfalls cascading down their sides, Stewart is Canada's most northerly ice-free, deep-sea port.
Located beside Alaska on the Canada US border, the economy of Stewart today is fueled by mining, forestry and tourism.

The Corbels moved from the community of Lund on the BC Sunshine Coast where they had been pastoring a church there until last year, when the church was closed.
They moved to Stewart in January this year to begin pastoring a church in Stewart.
“People who haven’t darkened the door of the church in years have been coming out ever since we began pastoring the church.” Fernie commented.
The Corbels are very excited about the ministry ahead with a congregation that seems to be a perfect fit.
The church has provided them with a home to live in above the church. The Corbels are grateful for this provision. They have no need to purchase a home as they have in the past.
Pray for the Corbels, that in their new pastorate, they would be effective and productive in equipping the saints for the work of ministry.
Pray as well that Fernie would have many opportunities to share the Gospel to those in Stewart.
